"Using Vertical Search To Grow Your Niche" The best explanation for vertical search is to look at an actual example.  Google's shopping search engine, Froogle, is an example of vertically organized search.  Other examples include the shopping comparison search engines like  Shopping.com, NexTag, and Shopzilla.

I want to publicly go on record and say that in the months and years to come we will see more and more of these vertical search engines.  Already, several industries are ripe for exploiting with the introduction of a vertical search engine.  One recent introduction was Farechaser.com for the travel industry.

LookSmart has plans to build a series of vertical search interfaces.  They have already launched vertical search for the educational market... targeting college, high school, and middle school students.  These search sites carry sponsored, contextually-relevant ad listings.  There are at least a couple hundred vertical search destinations LookSmart will launch or could launch.

This presents an awesome opportunity for marketers who target a specific niche.  Imagine how responsive those using these vertical search engines will be to your contextually-relevant advertisement appearing on the site!

It's targeting prospects in your niche for maximum results.  With the exhaustive amount of information a person must plow through using mass-market search engines like Yahoo, Google and MSN, these vertical search engines give people only the essential search results they seek.

For example:  If you're about to begin golfing for the first time you'll probably go first to Google or Yahoo to search.  But, if you're an avid golfer you will turn to the more efficient vertical search with pre-selected results that give you specifically what your passion for golf demands.

That's perfect for a niche marketer because niche market audiences have shown that over time they tend to gravitate toward areas which give them the essential rather than the exhaustive.  Profiting is simple!  You simply gravitate towards those same areas ... using contextually-relevant ads and inclusion in the vertical search engine.

It's a "no-brainer" that stacks the deck in your favor by using vertical search to grow your niche!
